Hi! I'm Kennedy, a Kansas native with a taste for adventure and a newfound passion for food photography. Hailing from the heartland, I've always embraced the warmth and openness that comes with being an outgoing Kansan. Now, I'm translating that same enthusiasm into my journey as a food photographer. Now based in Chicago, IL with a camera in hand and a penchant for exploring local flavors, I'm embarking on a visual storytelling adventure to capture the essence of dishes in all their delectable glory. Here's to savoring every moment and flavor along the way!
My Story
Growing up against the picturesque backdrop of Kansas, I quickly became involved in the local theater and art community. My path initially led me to the dazzling world of musical theater. Fueled by a passion for storytelling and a desire to share emotions through performance, I pursued my dreams at the University of Memphis, where the spotlight became my second home. Those years of theatrical exploration taught me the power of expression, the importance of collaboration, and the magic of transforming narratives into unforgettable experiences.
But as life often unfolds, unexpected challenges can reroute our journey. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought the curtain down on many stages, including mine. The world changed, and so did my aspirations. Adapting to the new reality, I made the bold decision to pivot and follow a new passion that had been simmering on the back burner: food photography.
Growing up I had a huge passion for cooking and everything that comes with it. I remember watching Food Network as a 10 year old wanting to cook like those on TV. I learned the majority of my techniques from my father and sister. That passion for cooking has since followed me into my adult years. Returning to the creative realm felt like a homecoming of sorts. Armed with a camera, I embarked on a fresh adventure, capturing the essence of dishes much like a performer evokes emotions from an audience. My background in storytelling, lighting, and aesthetics seamlessly merged into this newfound pursuit. The camera has became my partner in crafting stories that showcased the colors, textures, and emotions of cuisine.
And so, my journey continues, from the plains of Kansas to the stages of Memphis, and now to the world of food photography here in Chicago. Through the lens, I'm crafting a new narrative, one that celebrates creativity, resilience, and the artistry that unites us all.
